Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"~ The famous quote uttered by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 during one of his inaugural speechs to capture his audience during The Great Depression. These words have been used and reflected by many during times when things aren't looking up and allowing fear to overwhelm us to soon within the storm.

Fear, what is it?  Fear can be defined as "A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid. foreboding, apprehension, consternation, dismay, dread, terror, fright, panic, horror, trepidation, qualm. courage, security, calm, intrepidity."(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fear).  So then if fear is a form of emotion and we are able to control our emotions whether happy, sad, inlove, confused, excited, or whatever; why is it that fear is one of those emotions that seem to take on a entire new form within ourselves?  Many people have allowed fear to hold them back from making progress within their personal lives as well as their business lives and end up living with regret thus forming bucket list, which some don't get the chance to accomplish everything on the list as fear has once again got in the way.

I respect those who have taken a chance to overcome their fears by looking fear dead in the face and pushing it to the side to be able to say "Hey I overcame my fear, on to the next obsticle, I can achieve anything now."  Like everything else it is a working progress, you can not just jump right in and take back your emotion and calm it down.  You have to think about the fact of what is it about this obsticle that is holding you back from jumping over that hurtle, and what will happen for you when you overcome it.  For me, I am terrified of heights so the fact of getting on say a roller coaster that either does loops, goes extremely high, has your feet dangling outside the car, or all of the above scares the bejesus out of me.  I love to fly and at first I was afraid to fly, but I overcame that fear only because I had to in order to get home due to an issue with the train and time frame of the greyhound.  But I felt a little more secure as I am enclosed and I don't have to look out the window...I can look forward and can't see the parking lot as I fly at speeds unknown down hill.  But I am a working progress, this weekend I plan on going to Kennywood to ride the Phantoms Revenge and the Skyrocket for the first time facing fear head on.  Wish me luck because I am going to need it, I will try and take pics of before and after I get off; If I go through with it, so stay tune.

TRAPPED

Do you feel as though the walls are closing in, feel like you can't breathe, afraid to let go but just can't give up?  Do you feel as though you are stuck in a situation where you can't break free with the fear of failure?    Are you currently going through an obstacles within your life where you feel as though your stuck in your current job and can't break free as fear of job security, perhaps your going through a relationship that you know is over and things will never get better but your holding on to that last strand of hope with an iron fist that seems to be slipping away, or perhaps your just lost within your soul and can't find a big enough air pocket to sustain the life that flows through.  This has been true for many for too long.

No matter what your instance is, its up to you to determine how much more you can take.  What are you going to do to change your situation?  Its up to you to take the initiative and determine what your destiny will be and not to settle for anything less than what you deserve.  Set goals for yourself with a timeline, but you must maintain and implement those goals step by step.  This is a way of life and you need to clean house, whether that means updating your resume and watching interviewing techniques on YouTube to prepare for your next job, getting rid of old baggage that mean you no good, or if that means meeting your fears face to face and pushing them out the way.  Take back the control of your life starting today!

The Girl Next Door

The girl next door, who is she?  Can she be the woman with the untainted reputation, the GOD fearing woman, independent woman working hard to maintain what she has built...Can she be the woman that cooks, cleans, and prefers being at home...Or can she be the woman that is nurturing and caring and provides new experiences that your not use to getting from any other woman, or is she what you would consider wifey material to bare your children and one day carry your last name?

No matter what perception of a "girl next door" you may have, what is it about that person that frightens us as men?  Some find her early, some find her later in life, some even have the luck of finding her more than once; but the thought of forever scares us so we either run away, dog her out, or become somewhat standoffish.  You see we as men have been programed that we are not suppose to show our emotions as it shows a sign of weakness.  No matter what any man says, we all want and need that one person that we can call to tell good or bad news to, someone that we can squeeze at night, that one person that understands us better than anyone else, and someone that we can grow old with.  In most cases people say men try to find a woman that reminds him of his mother, in some ways this is true.  We need that person that will be there when ever we call, maintains the household and is independent, someone who loves us for us and is able to call us out on our bull but not judge us for it.

So where are these such women, where do we find them; at church, at the club, at work, from a friend, social media sites, dating sites, maybe the grocery store...I have found that you can find them any where, but its when your not looking is when they show up.  So if your looking for her, stop...have your fun and believe me if its meant to be she will find you.

Change, is it possible...

A leopard can not change its spots nor can a zebra change its stripes...Hmmm, what does this mean?  Shortly stated, it means that one can not change their essential nature.  Now why is it that we can change our style of clothing throughout the year, we can change our minds about what we like, and we can change the person that we love, but we can not change our nature?  It boggles my mind to no end.

For instance, a man who has been in and out of jail for years knows wrong from right but yet he has the mentality that fast money is easy money but with consequences if caught.  He finally decides enough is enough and when he gets out decides to get a 9-5 job to support his family because he has a new born child now and wants to be there for his family.  He gets bored with the job and needs more money to support the lifestyle that he is use to so he goes back out does his dirt, gets the money, and before soon gets caught and back in jail he goes.  Three strikes your out, now he has to watch his child grow up from behind the bars.

Why is it that we don't learn our lessons or lose site of what is important.  Sometimes change is for the better, but in some instances change can effect the people around us more.  I believe that we have to look deep within ourselves and ask why is it that I do what I do and why is it that I can't learn self control of the things that are bad for me.  The flesh is weak and we need to learn to deviate from wanting things now and in a hurry, but to request for the things that we need to supply our mind and soul with the essentials.  Take a deep look in the mirror and tell me do you like what you see, are you where you are suppose to be in life, do you have all the things you have ever wanted and truly needed, have you let fear hold you back from accomplishing your goals.  When is enough enough and when will we stand up and say no more, a change is to come and it needs to start today.
